Wanted to take a minute and say hello to the board. Been studying and lurking in advance of my first AK purchase. Finally found a lightly used (said less than a clip) Arsenal SLR 107 CR which is the weapon I settled on on Gun Broker. Thrilled to have it - not an easy gun to come by it seems. Anyone have any suggestions on what (if anything) this gun (or I) need to know? I eventually may SBR this guy but I'm going to enjoy it as a shooter initially. Need to understand preference in mags and ammo (if any) and how you guys are slinging side folders for carry. At any rate, really happy to finally be able to enjoy the forum as an owner. Matt

Welcome! And congrats! What an awesome rifle IMO. The 107CR was probably my favorite one I have ever owned. Steel surplus mags rule the day IMO. I've tried all the other stuff, but in the end, the steel surplus are cheap and reliable. The Bulgarian waffles are good mags, along with the Russian poly's and bakelites. I liked my Polish ones also, however I've heard there are many w/o metal lips and lugs.

Here's how I sling my side folders:

Can't thank you enough for the insight. Any recommendations on where to buy high quality AK mags or 7.62 ammo at a reasonable price beyond typical Midway/etc? Much appreciated. Matt
