Came across a AK and I had never heard of Armory before. I am not much of a AK guy so that doesnt mean much.

The right side says by ISD Bulgaria Ltd, Made in Bulgaria. Left side Says Armory USA, Houston Texas, SSR-85C-2 (is that the model)

It is a fixed stock gun with dark red/purple stocks. is that what you call plum??

These guns good, bad, ugly? What do they go for new?

I had one and it functioned just fine. I ended up trading it towards a pre-ban 56's.

Armory USA is now out of business, but with the possible exception of No Dak Spud, Armory USA/Global Trades made the best American stamped receivers.

They also build rifles, which were usually very good quality.

My employer picked it up in the height of the black gun craziness and paid a whole lot.

My main question is are they worth north of 1K? I have seen a bunch of milled arsenal guns get spendy but never a stamped gun

Update! after some research it seems the ssr 56s were a mix of parts, chinese barrel, polish internals with hungarian rec.

I have an SSR-56 and it functions fine but is overgassed!

That's the 56. Not the 85C-2. The 85Bs were made from AKM parts whereas the 85Cs were made from Type III or AK-47 parts, save for the receiver.

No fuggin' way. Don't pay for his panick-driven mistake just 'cause he's the boss.

Make no mistake, I have no personal interest in this gun. Just trying to get a fair value

Well they were going for 449.99 back in 2003-2004 and were kinda plagued with some minor issues;rust in rivets and peeling chrome in chambers and stuff like that.

My friend had one with a bad heat treat on the receiver. He barely used it and the hammer and trigger pin holes egged out on him

Prices have fallen on these. Just last week a dealer had 3 of these for $450-$550. New, unfired, made by ISD, & Imported by Arsenal with the 1.6 receiver. He's had them for over a year & they remain unsold. 2 have a slant break tac welded, & 1 has an unthreaded muzzle. GARY N4KVE
