Non standard threading on an AK barrel
Hey guys, I purchased a standard AK muzzle brake to but on my Bulgarian AK.
One small problem, the threading is not standard. In fact the standard muzzle brake slides right over the threads and does not even touch them.
Is this a common Bulgarian issue?
No one else have this issue?

Maybe it's not actually a standard brake?
Standard should be 14x1 LH threads.

I am 100% certain it is the threading on the barrel. The same brake works on my other AK's
So I just checked and on a whim I tried a A2 flash hider...well it looks like I have a bulgy with 1/28 right threading on my ak

Many of the SSR85C2 rifles had the end of the barrel turned down as part of the "sporterizing" process to be "importable". It also had a MAK 90 type buttstock, & a skinny magwell '10 rd mag" etc. to be allowed in the country. Once in the US, buttstocks get replaced, magwells get opened up, US FCG added, but the turned down barrel is still turned down, so they get threaded 1/2 x 28 as they're too skinny for 14mm. CNC Warrior has US made AK brakes in 1/2x28 threads just for rifles like yours:
