Not riding the level...still getting jammed

Gun: Wasr 10/63
Issue: When chambering the first round the bolt will not close entirely upon its return, and then it is very, very difficult to unchamber the round. I didn't pull the trigger because I was nervous about what would happen if everything wasn't in line.
Solutions:......................?? Clean it??

Is the rifle new?
Have you cleaned it?
The Romanians cover these in preservative. Century doesn't clean it off.
Clean the rifle, including the bore and chamber. When you think it's clean look carefully. You'll probablty find there's more preservative hiding in the crevices.

This sounds like the chamber itself has dried up cosmo in it, what I tells people is to take a 40 cal wire brush, put it on a cleaning rod and the other end put on a drill, dip in Hops 9 and let it spin, make sure you press hard enough so that the brush enters the neck area not the barrel.............. Let us know......

Was your mag loaded to max capacity? The reason I ask is because one of my 30 rounders does the same thing in my 10/63 if I load 30 rounds, I can load 29 and it's GTG.

I stripped it apart and gave it another good cleaning. I noticed that there seemed to be some wear on the section of the piston where the chrome stops and the paint starts. I gave it a squirt of remoil and sure enough the paint just glopped off in a strange pattern. If I can get a picture of it up here I will. I cleaned out the chamber and lubbed up most of the moving parts, and chambered a round with no evident problem. I think I will take a trip to the range tomorrow with my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help, I will report back.

Hmmmmmm interesting. I will have to see if that makes a difference because when I tried it tonight I just stuck a round into an empty mag......to be continued I guess.....

it's quite likely that what you see is the result of Century welding the US made piston through the rivet hole in the carrier and piston and then grinding off the excess. They're not concerned about how it looks and they leave grind marks on the carrier.
