Bulgy not going into battery all the time
I posted this on the AK forum too but I thought I would here too....Its a 74, not a 47.
Hey guys,
I got a bulgy AK that is pretty fresh (from a armory kit, maybe 300 rds down it) and sometimes (maybe 2 times a mag) the thing wont seat fully into battery. The bolt appears to be, but the CH is sticking about 1 inch back still and wont go forward nor backwards. I have to slam the CH on a bench to eject the shell. I did it once today and noticed a big chip of the casing was taken out towards the rim of it. Dunno if that has any difference or not.
I cleaned the chamber thinking it was just coated in Laq, but that didnt make a diff. I am a gun cleaning nut so I always come home and clean them.
Thoughts?
Thanks guys!

Check:
Receiver for straightness.
The rails are welded in at the correct height.
Gas block and RSB are on straight.
Gas piston not binding in tube.
Burrs on trunnion, on bolt carrier bolt camming surfaces.
Good luck. BSW
Checked all of the above today, had 2 jams out of 120 rds. One thing I did notice though when cleaned it, is that the piston had NO movement in it. So I got out the dental set and cleaned the carbon off of the piston/carrier meeting point. It has movement now :) Think that could be the problem?
My friend is having the same issue on his. His first one had canted sights but centerfire took care of that and sent him out a new rifle but... the bolt is having issues even when your charging without a magazine. Sometimes it gets stuck at the back but mostly towards the front same as yours and he has to smack it into battery. If you find out how to fix the problem give me a yell becuase its probably the same thing for his.
i just sent a draco back for the same thing.. had to hammer it closed. it would fire once, chamber a new round, but then not close all the way.. my local dealer called the importer right infront of me and they said they heard of it before.. im supposed to get a new one soon...
Im having this same problem with a WASR 10/63 UF. Looks like it will be going back.
I ended up taking mine to Global to get a look. He said that it was just getting broke in. Sure enough, 150 rds without oil and grease not a problem :)
