Front sight is pretty much unadjustable
I have a nice B-Square front sight adjustment tool. I attatched it and cannot move the front sight side to side or up and down. I'm thinking about spraying WD-40 in there to loosen things up but I thought I'd post my problem on here first. Any Ideas?
A good penetrating oil is always a good step. WD40 ain't a good penetrating oil.
If you have any CLP I'd try that before WD40. Kroil is the stand for loosening up seized fasteners. Any auto parts store should have a small container as you won't need much. BSW
I have CLP, I'll try it.
I have the same problem (sort of). I can easy screw the elevation up or down, but cannot move the windage side to side in either direction for the life of me. I try to screw that baby until I can't turn it any more...I figured the adjustment would be tough (so it doesn't easily get changed) but not THAT tough. I tried letting some Break-Free sit on it for the day, then tried to knock it loose with a hammer and pin-type (I actually was using a spare piece of cleaning rod as it was all I had around) technique, but with no luck. I didn't really want to start rapping on the thing super hard.
Any tried-and-true methods? Should I not be afraud to stick that sucker in a vice and bang the crap out of it till it budges?
If you've tried letting soaking it in oil for a couple of days and it still doesn't budge I'd probably move to heat. Try heating the FSB to expand it away from the front sight slide.
You might also want to try using a heavier c-clamp with a socket as a pushing tool. The regular sight adjusting tool can bend and keep you from exerting full force.

I finally got my sight moving. Before I had tried break free...but this time I let the gun oil sit in the top of the sight for 24 hrs...Then took her downstairs, clamped it down, and whacked it a few times with a hammer. No copper in or anything...just metal on metal. Not advised probably, but oh well it looks fine to me. It still moves hard of course, but its that last half a turn that moves it.
