Russian plum stock/Arsenal SA M7S
I've had an Arsenal SA M7S for some time. Happened to see a Russian plum stock for sale on another forum. Thought it would look pretty sharp on mine. So I got it, went to put it on tonite. WTF? OK, admittedly I don't know a lot about the different types of AK's. But, I guess that Russian syn stocks are made for stamped AK's, and (obviously I never even thought about it!) the receivers are different where the handguard keys into the the front of the receiver. The rear of my handguard is just a horizontal rectangular key (for lack of the proper term). The Russian plum is molded in a U shape. Now, is it worth reshaping the U on the Russian so it will fit into the rectangular milled receiver? Is this what everyone else does? Hopefully everyone understands what I'm getting at here. I just hate to cut it down in case I don't like the plum and shorter buttstock, since I'm thinking the handguard won't fit back onto a stamped receiver if I whittle it down to fit the milled. Any suggestions? Thanks. Greg
