little experience with WASR's little help
my buddy has a WASR-10 that needs a new bolt, firing pin and return spring, and would not like to spend the 300 on a the rebuild kit
anyone know a reliable source to get the separate parts ?
Bolts should NOT be regarded as interchangable. If he requires a new bolt, it's necessary to check the headspace (go and no go gauges) and adjust it if necessary. That involves removing the barrel pin, pressing the barrel in or out, drilling the trunnion and barrel for an oversize pin and installing it. In other words, unless you have the tools required, adjusting the headspace is a job for a 'smith.
ETA: Why do you think he needs a new bolt?
i dont think he does, he thinks he does.
i wouldnt know what a bad bolt on a AK looked like if it smacked me in the face
ill relay your msg to him, thanks again for the advice
What the heck happened to the wasr to end up needing those parts?
i guess the parts came up missing. so. idealy he isnt replacing them due to them being broke, just not present.
