Does anyone have any pics of mods done to the bullet guide/feed ramp to feed HPs?

My WASR feeds FMJ, SP, and HP. My recommendation is to send it back to Century if you have problems. Dremeling it yourself can result in an unsupported case and subsequent KB.

Islandboy671, Does your WASR 10 feed them at all? or are you just trying to make it feed better? I am also interested on the results people have gotten out of added feed ramps. From my research some barrels dont even have a cut to help with feeding, which allows only fmj to have chance in feeding.

strat81, Does your WASR 10 feed softpoints without denting them? Mine will feed anything I give it, however it dents softpoints and takes a very small nick out of hollowpoints. Next time you are out at the range try chambering one and pulling it out without firing and check the tip. You could be surprised at the damage to softpoints. I get some pretty bad flyers, even for an AK

Never noticed too much damage to my SP handloads.

The are supposed to feed all kinds of x39 right out of the box.

I did a dremel job on mine and it feeds great. The trick is to put a slight V shaped chamfer on the breach face of the barrel just bellow the chamber and blend it into the existing chamfer without shortening the length of the chamber by cutting into it. As I said it's a VERY slight angle just enough to get the tip of round going in the direction of the chamber. The first time I shot my gun it would jam with the bullet impacting the face of the breach. My choices were to make the feed ramp higher or chamfer the barrel. I chose the chamfer route and it worked fine. Don't get carried away with the dremel and use just a polishing stone or the rubber impregnated stone and just polish the chamfer into the face forming the V with the wide side meeting the existing chamfer at the bottom of the chamber. Polish the ransition so it's very smooth. If I can figure out photo bucket I'll post some pics this weekend.

i put a ramp , polish carrier and polish hammer on all of my rifles if they need it or not. never had a problem w/ anything you want to feed it. have had about 17 or 18 ak's w/ no FTF or FTE since i started doing it.

Yeah, "all kinds" of FMJ the rifle was designed for. If any given AK feeds HP ammo, that is a plus and not a requirement of the design.

Here you go.

I had trouble with the rounds impacting just below the chamber mouth.

I formed a wide V below the chamber and formed it into the existing chamfer basicly throating the chamber without cutting into the chamber or leaving the case unsupported.

It would jam on almost every round before the mod now it shoots with no stoppages at all.

The bit was a very mild stone and then I polished using a rubber impregnated stone and I kept the angle very slight..
