What would you do? Got my new in the box Vector Polish AK underfolder and received it with no bayonet lug. They said it should have had one and would fix it for free. Would you spend the time and the shipping to send it back to them? The rifle is super cool without the lug, would be super cool & authentic with it though....... your thoughts?

Personally, yes, I would send it back. Since you can have a bayonet mount you may as well have it.

Fuck yeah I'd send it back! I got mine after the ban ended and that's one of the reasons I bought it. Not that I'd ever mount a bayonet for more than a minute just to do it.

Not worth the hassle to ship back for something I'd personally never use. If it irks you, and that's what was agreed upon, send it back. If you won't miss it, I wouldn't sweat it. Who did you order it from?

I thought all new Vectors have no bayo lug and non chromed US barrels now.

Heres what I got back from and email I sent directly to Vector

"I am not sure but I think I know what the problem is. Your rifle has the old-style bayonet lug which came on the milled guns. It has a hook-like feature under the front sight. Bayonets for these type of rifles are hard to find.
We have a hard time getting AK kits from overseas and milled kits are the last ones we received so that is the type lug you received. If you don't lke it, we do have a few with the AKM style lugs that we could get you. If so, send us your gun and we will replace it with an AKM style.
Another possible but remote thing is that somehow we installed a barrel that had been lying around from "ban" days which we removed the lug. If yours doesn't have the hook lug at the front like I explained above, then you got a ban barrel. Let me know."

They seem to be bending over backwards to please me, top notch crew at Vector!

Now it may be worth your time to grab an AK-47 bayonet and see if it works. That might not be so bad. Not as cool, but I think I could live with that. It's the whole principle of the thing.

If they did indeed send you a "post-ban" barrel from the old days, I'd keep it.

I'd rather have chrome-lined barrel with no lug than a non-chrome-lined barrel with a lug. JMHO...

I've seen several Vector builds using AK-47 parts on a stamped receiver, rather than AKM parts.

Grab a Type 1 bayonet and it'll fit.

This is from a Type I AK-47 captured by Greentimber in Afghanistan.

sounds like you may be right! I still would prefer the AKM style bayonet. This type 1 looks kinda ugly compared to the AKM/AK74 type, AND hard (for me) to find. I think after my 9-11 jitters are gone( two days from today), I'll box it back up and send it in to have it changed. Thanks again for the input and educating me on the type 1 bayonets!

I really don't see how anyone can say type I bayonets are hard to find. I see them everywhere!

type 1&2 are both references to the AKM type bayo setup. the milled AK's bayo is just referred to as ak47 bayonet, or maybe we should call it the "rabbbit ears" bayo to reduce confusion.

and I agree, I would much rather prefer the AKM bayo lug (hence why I luv SAM7s). send it back now!

Vectors turn around time is pretty fast.

I just got my Uzi back from them, 2 weeks from the time i sent it off.

Actually I'm about 100 miles past po-dunkville. AK-47 bayonets are pretty easy to come by too if you wanted to go that route.

In this case though, if I didn't have another AKM, I'd get this one changed out for one that would fit an AKM bayonet.
