SRVV 7.62 AK Brake Review
Like many of you, I've been seeing SRVV 7.62 brake more and more in photos of the Russian "special units" lately so I decided to pick one up and see why all these guys were switching to this brake vs the well respected and standard "AK-74 type" brake that has been used for so long.
I went to the website at the bottom of this post and ordered the brakes pictured above (standard SRVV in 7.62 and Jet brake in 5.45). The company was very easy to deal with and most of the ordering process could be done in english, the only exception was entering the credit card information––-but that's easy enough in any language.... I received at tracking notice the day after ordering and the brakes arrived at my door 18 days after placing the order.
I went out with my SGL 21 and a bunch of Golden Tiger 124gr FMJ rounds to do a little T&E on the brake. Here's a video of the testing and what I found:
Review/Test Video
Chronograph numbers:
No brake: 2404 fps average
SRVV brake: 2374 fps average
SGL brake: 2388
As always, ensure you're in compliance with 922r regulations.

(the Jet in 5.45 review will be posted soon...)

How did the SRVV brake compare to the standard AK74 brake when it comes to noise and how much muzzle blast people around the shooter feel?
Damn––-I knew I missed some stuff....
Noise––-it seemed more quiet from behind the gun.
Blast––I wouldn't want to be next to someone shooting it. In the video when I'm taking those 75 yard shots you can see the blast shooting out to both sides around the tree; it would probably suck to be there.
Nice review/vid.
Nice indeed, thanks for doing this. Can't wait to see the 5.45 Jet review.
Those pics are kinda funny with all the American gear on their rifles, EOtechs, Magpul, and Aimpoints.
Those brakes remind me of the banned era bushmaster brakes.
I do like my SAM7 shark brake, it makes for a extremely smooth shooting gun, it's also very similar to these
new brakes. What was old is new again.
Good video review, I look forward to the 5.45 jet review. Some low light shooting would also be good.

I agree on the low light shooting––-one BIG problem though. Local ordinance says no shooting at night (I think it's to prevent poaching but still...) and no one ever says anything when I'm out there blasting away so I don't want to ruffle any feathers. My family owns all the land but still, not trying to push it.
More pics:

Great review man.
Can we get the weights of the brakes by chance?

Aimpoints aren't American. They are a Swedish company and they are made in Sweden.

Yes I know that genius, but our military has been using them for a long time, so I consider them American/Nato gear.
That makes no sense. Just because Americans use them doesn't make them American.
They are a Swedish optic.
P.S. You spelled genius wrong.

Thank you spelling nazi, is school still out. When our troops start using warsaw pact gear maybe it will make more sense to you. How much
of our equipment, clothing, machined parts or raw materials are produced in another country. 10 or 15 years ago Russians didn't field nato gear.
I was pointing out the fact that they are using more stuff that we use. You read a thread the other day about where Aimpoints come from and are trying
to pretend you're super smart or something.
From Aimpoints website: In 1997, the U.S. Army awarded Aimpoint the world’s first military contract for red dot sights.
I was just putting out that Aimpoints aren't American. I understand that Aimpoints are used by our military, they are standard issue for many soldiers, but that doesn't make them American.
Some of the Russian forces do use similar kit to some of our soldiers, as does the rest of the civilized world, this isn't some new info that you are pointing out that no one knew beforehand, so I don't know why you are getting uppity about it.
If you are referring to the thread I think you are, you can go back and notice that I was actually the person to point out that they weren't made in America, it's a common misconception, I think because they are so popular here.
As far as school goes, I am not sure, I finished school about 10 years ago.
