I have a WASR 10-63 I bought a few years ago. It has been bulletproof. Haven't had a single jam or problem. Hasn't been cleaned in 2K rounds or more. Runs great. I was looking into buying a 2nd AK to just have around. I'm conflicted whether to buy another WASR or add more $ & get another brand.
If you want something just to beat up and not worry about, a wasr isn't a bad way to go.
What you get is really dependent on how much money you have to spend.
back in 2005 I bought a SA-M7 for $850, out the door. I haven't seen the same rifle for sale with all
the accessories that came with mine for under $1300. Draco pistols were $350 when they came to the
market just a little while ago. Now if you can get one for under $600 you got a deal. The point I'm trying to make is
that if you buy a high quality rifle for a decent price now (like an SGL21-61 for $805 shipped from Atlantic, minus
any arfcom discount they may offer), there is a very good chance that the rifle will go up in value in the future and you'll
be glad you did. If you don't want to go that route and want a wasr like rifle, I'd personally get
this one.
