I’m looking at maybe getting another underfolder AK. I already have a Century Yugo, good solid rifles overall. So which one would you choose? And for what reason.

The Polish is supposed to be better built. But have no chrome line barrel. Does anyone owned either of these rifles and can tell me how they are? Thank

The WASR Underfolder is a nice rifle. My Dad has one and I've fired it extensively. The chrome-lined bore is a big plus

I have a polish akms. Its been an AK. boringly reliable. Don't have the wasr to compare it to though, sorry.

But I do like my polish gun.

I have owned the wasr under-folder and have shot my friends polish under-folder a bunch of times. The fit and finish on the polish under-folder is considerably better than the wasr. The folding stock on the polish version was a bit looser and had more wobble than my wasr stock was however. Accuracy and function is indistinguishable. Mag wobble was less in the polish. The wood furniture was higher quality on the polish and the lower hand guard has a palm swell unlike the wasr. The chrome line barrel in the wasr is a plus in my opinion, but not a deal breaker. We were shooting corrosive yugo surplus and as long as you clean the salts appropriately there shouldn't be an issue. If I were choosing between the two, I would go with the polish version because there are pretty much the same price but you get a better looking rifle. Magazine dimples in the receiver are nice to have as well. If you are buying online and do not have the luxury of inspecting the rifle before you buy, you would have piece of mind knowing that you will get a quality correctly assembled rifle vs taking a shot in the dark with a wasr (some are good some are not so good). Hope this helps

I think this would really boil down to a matter of preference. The Polish AKMS does not have a chrome-lined barrel, but, most 7.62x39 currently on the market is non corrosive anyway, so the barrel is a non-issue. The Polish also doesnt have matching numbers. But, if your buying it for a shooter, this is also a non-issue. One advantage the Polish does have over the Romanian, is that it has 2 locking pins for the stock, whereas the Romy only has 1. I dont own a Romanian underfolder, but i do have a WASR10/63, and a Century Polish AKMS. The Polish underfolder has a smoother action, and seems a little better built. But, I dont think you could go wrong with either chioce.
