Picked up a Yugo M70AB2 w/Bling Camo definitely a gangbanger AK. I have questions???
Picked it up in a pawn shop for $399. it's a C.I.A. built Yugo M70AB2 w/the thick receiver and very well
built. It draws a lot of attention with the benjamins decals & air brushing. Truely ghetto. I want to clean
it up but have noticed a few things.
First, the paint looks like automotive acrylic so how do I remove this without damaging the original finish underneath?
Second, the decal material leaves a sticky residue on the teak forearms. How do I remove and/or refinish these?
Third, the folding stock, top cover, muzzle brake, front sight post, grenade sight and grip have been heavily painted. Can the folding
stock, grenade sight and front sight post be easily removed for cleanup? Never worked on one of these before. One other question:
The stock seems a little loose, can this be adjusted or tightened? Thanks in advance for all the expert advice.
and yes, I know...bring on the jokes.
Damn that thing is pretty fly. If it were me I would just get new furniture from apex, a set of those battlefield pickup hand guards would look nice as far as the other paint I'm not sure.
man you messin with a mans gat that was rollin wid em in his 64....not coo.
get citristrip or whatever and hit the rifle. If it's a Century, it's pretty much just park under there anyway IIRC.
I dunno, that rifle looks pretty tits like it is. Just leave the Benjamin's on there OP. At the very least it is a conversation starter

At least from those pics, it looks well done.
Ghetto as heck though.
I would almost want to leave it as is. Maybe keep it hidden though.
Keep it as is. Its ghetto and a conversation piece. Just tell people it was used in a Ice Cub video.
Just sell the painted parts.
I have to agree for the price you paid I'd leave it like it is....total conversation piece "priceless!"

I would leave it. For $400 you can get another one later that is more stock. That is one of a kind. Yeah its a tad ghetto. Okay, a ton ghetto. But it is kind of cool.
Different anyway.

Just wanted to point out that the Yugo's did not use teak wood on their weapons. That may come in handy when you refinish.
This firearm makes me think that all of your assets are "in yo momma's name"
Seriously, leave it like it is.

My vote is to get rid of the white paint and leave everything else. It's horribly tacky and definately ugly, but in a good way.
Here's my straight-outta-Compton / ghetto-fabulous collection:

That's water transfer (Hydro-dip) on the hand guards, LOL.
Look its long lost brother.

definitely leave it!
At first I was like

. But now I kinda like it the way it is

. Most Halal!
Another vote to leave it as is, I'm sure it cost more to turn it into what it is then the base gun did.
Not as cool as 90210 stickers or Serbian crests but I'd keep it like that if it were mine. Just think of it as ghetto trench art.

So true!
Its only missing some gold plating

That thing is ghetto fabulous. Leave it that way!

You stole it for $400!
OP, almost everyone is telling you to keep it as is, and I agree with them.
At the most, get rid of the white paint. Keep everything else as is.
I almost would keep it the exact way I found it, just so I could say I haven't messed with it at all.
You could throw it on Gun Broker for $600 opening bid and see what happens if you truly hate it.
I'd change everything but the handguards, those are badass.
Charmingly fucking tacky. Do not ruin that masterpiece by trying to fix it. Put it up for sale or trade on the EE, somebody needs to give that abomination a place in their collection.
Ghetto blaster is ghetto.
I'd leave it just like that and get a fur collard pimp coat to wear to the range with it.
there is no way i would change that. it's ballin'

You know there's going to be somebody watching GB that's looking for something EXACTLY like this.
ETA: And if you truly think about it, out there somewhere is a sad, sad, individual who had to sell their prized/adored/cherished possession for some cold hard $$$.
It may even be a member of this forum. You'd simply crush their spirit by messing with all the effort that went into making so Ghetto Fabulous.
OP?

So far, just as I expected. Thanks everyone for the input and keep it coming. I just might keep it that way.
Problem is in my neck of the woods these are hard to find, oh well. I really like the addition of some gold krylon...too
frikin funny!

It's like the ghetto version of an African pickup or Khyber pass build: Truly and without a doubt an American original.

Never mind seems I was wrong.

No, they didn't. Zastava themselves have said so. Birch, Beech, and Elm only. Mitchell is responsible for the Teak myth.

Cocaine's a hell of a drug
sell it for more... buy a new one, people would pay for stupid shit like that... i think its pretty cool, like a chrome gun... wouldnt buy one except for a good deal!!
Keep the airbrushing and get rid of the white paint.
All metal parts should be gold. Plastic and wood should be Money.
Then sir, then, you shall have my respect.
Save yo money fo a grill
While I would not do that on my own weapon,
The goofy, over the top graphics are almost so uncool its cool.

1. Post to Gunbroker
2. Invent story about how this rifle belonged to Tupak's bodyguard, and has been sitting in a Police evidence room for years.
3. Put $3,000 price tag on it.
4. Profit.

Its almost like you hit the Lotto
As a matter of fact send that bad boy to Military Arms Channel and let them do a review on it. That youtube video would go Viral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GB auction already has three watchers, no bids yet. The "Reserve" is $899. with a rather large "buy it now" @ $1499.99, I know, I know...
you never can tell.
