74 mags went up because the supply of surplus ones in the country dried up. That's expected from time to time.

47 mags havent changed at AIM in a long time.

I've been in the AK game for a long time. Prices are going up because they don't have competition and people are starting to realize that. Simply there is not another weapon on the market that offers the same kind of shear rugged reliability as a Kalashnikov. People are becoming more aware that the economy will falter within our lifetime- so the idea of needing a true SHTF rifle becomes more apparent.

Been doing the AK thing for a decade now, seeing the prices go up in the last few years is rediculous. But no one seems to be part of the solution either. Everyone just keeps on moving the prices up higher and higher and everyone keeps paying them. When regular MAK90's are going for $700 is when I am happy to have what I do and probally will not add to my guns I am getting back into muscle cars.

Agreed. I just need about 4 more 74 bakelites and 4 more steel tantals and I'm done. Nothing but 7n6 from there on out...

I am desperately searching for a Bulgarian AK74, like the Century NDS-2, but cannot find anything in my $400 price range. Which sucks. I was looking into this last year and had a few options.

If they cost that much, I'll just put it towards an AR

Anyone seen any '74 deals?

You can't even buy a Bulgarian AK74 parts kit with an original Bulgarian barrel for $400. If you want a complete rifle, you are going to have to increase your budget. Best bet is to get a Saiga and convert it.

It's because I have been buying them all.

I haven't noticed prices going up that much in the last six months.

Arsenal raised their prices about $50-$100, and WASR's are about $50 more than a year ago. Other than that, there have been some decent deals out there recently, like the Waffen Werks 74's. And if you look at Atlantic's site, they've actually lowered prices on several models in recent months.

To the extent prices have risen, its mostly been on rifles that are no longer in production or are just harder to find. And you'd just sort of expect prices to go up on those.

Same thing with magazines. I haven't noticed any price increases on 47 mags. And surplus 74 mag prices have gone up in price simply as a function of supply and demand. When and if surplus 74 mags show up again (Bryan at AIM says he doesn't have any on the horizon), I'd expect prices to go back down.

Kit prices are all over the place. You can get Bulgarian 74 kits for under $200, minus the barrel. At the other end of the spectrum, good krink kits are $775 minus the barrel. The days of uber-cheap kits may be behind us, but that's been the case for awhile.

If you see anything you want, now is probably a good time to be buying. Not as good as in recent years, but I still think today's prices may look cheap a few years from now. The only thing that is constant, is that people will complain about prices no matter what those prices are.

If you ask me the market is flooded, and the prices should hold steady or even go down on used stuff. AK's are for sale everywhere. Every little Hardware store, gunshop, Fleet Farm ect ect is selling WASRs or other black guns...and ammo...I think the rise in cost is just inflation due to the rise in transportation costs, and inflation in general.

Yeah, it's going to get pretty retarded.

There will still be plenty of people that will wait till the last moment and then wonder where everything went.

It's a slow train coming and some people will still manage to get run over. Human nature and all...

I'm thinking of getting back into the 7.62x39 game, guess I better start buying mags, assuming the $8 days are gone then.

The evil black rifle couldnt be any more main stream now hell even my local Walmart has AR's. Last week at the fun show wasr's were 479 didnt see any 74's thats really what I was looking for. Had this discussion with friends we all think the more it looks like Obama is going to win a second term the more the prices will climb.

Im really thinking of buying an Aresnal or getting a Saiga to convert I would like a 5.45 but I already have 7.62 mags and some ammo so cant make up my mind but

THIS looks like a good option being it has the front end work done.

I don't think it matters who gets elected at this point, considering all that has been done to strip us of rights already...NDAA, DHS checkpoints on and on..prices will continue to rise as more folks figure out what is really going on. My .02

Its an election year, everything will keep going up as we get closer to November 4th. Depending on who wins will determine how fast the prices go down (or up) after the election.

There always is a bunch of people who wait until its too late.Buy the steals on cheaper rifles you normally wouldnt buy and hold onto them to sell to the last minute people on the auction sites.
There will be people whining there is no ammo, mags, and high prices come November.Dont get caught with 2 mags and 300 rounds of ammo.
Buy now guys and stock up while its available.
