TWS dogleg compatibility question
Will the EOtech FTS maginfier work on these?
Will ejected brass hit it when it's flipped down, possibly damaging the glass?
I emailed TWS about this, but I don't expect to hear back till after shotty.
Surely somebody here already knows this.
My Eotech G23 FTS can be configured to flip to the left or right. Set it to flip to the left (non-ejection side) and it's a non-issue.
I use this setup. The casings will sometimes hit the bottom edge of the eotech, but I have not seen any evidence of casing strikes on the magnifier after shooting with it in both positions. I would like to get some kind of a "kill flash" for the front of my magnifier anyways just to help keep the lense clean, though.

Doh! I forgot about that, good point.

Do you use it with the spacer in or out?

I'm not exactly sure what you are refering to. I took the unit out of the box and slaped them right onto the TWS mount as-is.

The 7mm spacer that comes with the G23 FTS. My EXPS2 requires it to be installed for the magnifier to be at the proper height, whereas a XPS (for example) would not. My spacer was not pre-installed when I received my magnifier.
I've got one of the EXPS's also and the G23 FTS had to have that spacer installed to line up correctly, I think the XPS's don't require that spacer on the G23 FTS to line up. I don't have a XPS so I don't really know.

I just checked it out, and yes you are correct there is a spacer.
Also, I went ahead and tried flipping the mount to see how it felt swinging to the left. I hated it and turned it back around right away. It blocks the vision in my left eye. As I said before, I do not see any evidence of casings hitting the magnifier when it is flipped to the right.
Thanks

I came to the same conclusion.

I actually thought for a second I might be the only person on using this particular setup.
It really takes the AK to a whole new level as far as I'm concerned. To anyone willing to drop a few bucks (or already has the optics on an AR), try this setup on the gen 2 TWS.

That's what I want to do on mine.
OP, what rifle are you planning to use this setup on?

It's a Romanian on a NDS Kyber pass receiver, already got the TWS gen 2 on it.
I think I'm going to go with a XPS 3-2, I did a dry run with the G23 FTS I have now without the 7mm spacer and it seemed like it was between a cheek weld and a chin weld and felt pretty good.
With the 7mm spacer in it seemed alot less comfortable to me.
ETA: It's a 7.62x39

Sounds like it will be a cool setup. Be sure to post pics when you finish
