 SGL21-66 Cover Release

Anyone else have one of these rifles (or the similar SGL21-94?)?

For some reason the release that you push in to get the receiver cover off is very difficult to move. I managed to get it off eventually, but it seemed a lot more difficult than my WASR 10/63.....any thoughts as to why this is?

The button itself seems to have a lip of some sort that almost appears to keep it from going in the little hole.

Did I get a defective rifle?

If I can ever get the cover off again I'll take a look. I assume a file will do the job at just filing it down?

Try pulling up on the rear of the cover before you trying to pull it out and away from the reciever.

So I tried your suggestion of pushing down on the rear and it worked like a charm! Thanks!

The weird part is that then I had an issue getting it back on consistently easily. Is there a good trick to getting an AK rear cover on without too much trouble. Sometimes it seems that it doesn't want to line up correctly...although I seem to have had that same issue with my WASR at times.

Perhaps I just need more practice. :)

Any thoughts on consistently getting the cover down and locked? Perhaps a technique of sorts?

I've been hearing that this is a pain in the ass with SGL's to get the dust covers off and shut, maybe just doing it over and over again will eventually wear it in!
