Ammo ID
Headstamp reads 7.62x39 94 A.R.E. a friend gave me 105 rounds of this and wanted to know more about it. Around 20 of the rounds have some slight corrosion
Egyptian export ammo.
ARE = Arab Republic of Egypt
Egypt made great AK's but crappy, unreliable, inconsistent and, corrosive ammo.
This particular batch of Egyptian export 7.62x39mm is non-corrosive. I have one of the original boxes, and it clearly says in English "non-corrosive". Interestingly enough, it also says in big bold letters " shelf life 10 years"!
The guy I got this from confirmed that it is non-corrosive and that it all went "bang"...
A small lot of this ammunition came in about 2 years ago. It's pretty uncommon and when I got ahold of some of it for my cartridge collector friends I made a lot of them happy. One guy even took a bunch of it to Europe to trade with collectors over there. It's not super valuable, but you could get a buck or two each from a collector who needs one...
