Brown Bear that's not brown?
So I bought 500 rounds of Brown Bear 7.62x39 HP ammo sometime last year. I just opened the first box of it today and it looks just like wolf ammo. No "Brown" laquer coating. Is this normal? , because I thought the reason it was called "Brown Bear" was because of the coating. This is the first time I have used the stuff so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Just the brand name. The ammunition isn't actually brown.

Brown Bear is now coated in a grey polymer instead of the brown lacquer. There are some places still selling lacquer coated stuff, but it's probably just left over supplies.
I strongly prefer the lacquer coating myself.
I thought Brown Bear was still Laquered too?

Nope, it is all greyish polymer coated. It's better, so that's a good thing.
The .223 is still Lacquer coated, but it seems the 7.62 is polymer, causing some confusion.

Ok, i went for the brownbear because of the laquer because I thought it would be better for long term storage. I have had some of the wolf stuff actually start to rust on me. So at least the 2k of .223 I just ordered will be laquered right?

I'm not a fan of the polymer. The old style lacquer is the best (in 7.62 x 39). I've had issues with the polymer stuff rusting after you touch it.
Here's some of the new Wolf lacquer from the Ukraine...started a thread to find more about it.
For the lacquer fans...this looks promising. looks to have more lacquer on it than the old Russian stuff from years ago.
glad to see this I much prefer the lacquer

Yes, you should be fine. And yeah, lacquer is far better for storage. My ancient lacquered ammo is doing fine in storage, any of the polymer coated stuff I've bought would rust if I touched it, and was sometimes rusted when first opened.

No.
I'm probley going to sell off 3-4k of BB Hp with lacquer if anyone is looking. I didn't list it on the EE yet but I'm looking for 225 shipped per 1000 to any free states in lower 48. I'm about to sell off the last of my AK stuff I have some mixed norinco yellow baurnal gold tiger mags etc gotta price it out.
Just a quick edit that is 225 per 1k not 4000 rounds for 225. One person pointed out that they can get it for close to that new.. this is new un opened still packed in 500rd case lacquered Hp . Not newer poly I only posted since some of you said you preferred that to newer lots of the poly stuff.
