Hello, new poster/ long time lurker. getting ready to pull the trigger on a 500 rd case of silver bear fmj. wanted to get some opinions on the performance (accuracy and terminal). gonna put this back for shtf/ training/ plinking. once i start buying it, its what i will continue to buy. i like sticking with the same.

found a 500 rd case at jg sales that i could purchase along with the rommy drum im wanting for 245 + shipping? this a decent deal for both. i know i might be able to find cheaper ammo but orderin together will save a few $ in shipping

thanks

500 rds for that price seems WAY too high. That's usually 1000 rd case prices.

It's $144.95 for the 500 round case, plus whatever the drum costs he's talking about. That's still pretty high for 500 rounds. SG Ammo has it for $15 cheaper, but I don't know how all that would work out after shipping. Silver Bear is good stuff, personally I'm a Golden Tiger man.

I can get Tula fmj for $100/500 OTD at a local gun shop. GT would be worth a little more to me but not that much more.

the SB is 144 for 500rds, the wolf and brown would be a lil cheaper, bout 120. the ulyanovsk 122gr is right around 140 for 640rds. would any of these be better options for the $?

Look at what your cost per round is and what you're doing with the ammo. If it's for plinking I'd get the cheapest stuff. If it's for building up an ammo stash then you may want to pay a little more for a sealed tin or sealed bullets like the Golden Tiger.

ETA, all of my ammo is kept in a pretty stable storage environment so I have a mix of everything I can get my hands on.

its funny that you post this today. today i was at the range with 2 boxes of the 125gr bear ammo (bi metal sp). I wanted to see how they compared to the regular Wolfs 122gp FMJ (with the lacquer coating).

Here is standalone at 25 yards...ignore the 2 shots at the eye (different riffle), the main group is from the AK47.

Now here is the Silber Bear ammo at 50 yards

And here is the Wolfs ammo at 50 yards

My bottom line is that maybe if i had more time i would have tested it at 100 yards but at 50 yards i see no point in paying twice as much for the Silver Bear (unless I was hunting maybe)...

thanks everyone for the replys. well, i did some checking around at different websites. was able to get the drum from one and 500 rds of GT from another for less than ordering from the site. i saved enough in ammo costs to offset the shipping and still saved. got the total for 500rds of GT (sgammo) and a rommy drum(jgsales) down to 233 shipped. Im pretty happy with that.
