The seller told me it was 7.62x39 mm, hollow point, E.German, non-corrosive. He purchased it a few years back.

Does anyone remember running across this stuff? I need to verify if it's really E. German and non-corrosive.

Circle with the crosses is a NATO mark IIRC....

Nato's headstamp mark is a cross within a circle (it's a stolen pic)......

Thanks for the tip on Ulyanovsk.

The headstamp certainly looks like that found on the box to the far left in the picture (another stolen photo).

So, can someone confirm? Corrosive or not?

I'm thinking (dangerous) that it's commercial ammo (mfn 1997) so it's probably non-corrosive. As opposed to the military surplus stuff brought into the USA in the mid 90s, which was military surplus re-bulleted with politically correct "sporting" bullets (non-steel core). Besides, the primer color is not the gunmetal gray color like that found on corrosive 5.45x39 Russian ammo (IF, primer color is a reliable indicator).

I have some of that ammo, same headstamp as yours except, no date. The boxes are the blue and white. On front of box reads Hunting Cartridge, 7.62x39,124gr HP L.C.B Non Corrosive 20 rds. Other side reads Hunting.... 7.62x39- 8-M3 "Effect" TY 7271-018-07504347-96. Appears your good to go on non corrosive. Hope this helps
