Wolf/Barnaul versus M67/surplus... impact or velocity differences?
I want to do some zeroing and tinkering with some optics on a 16 AK...
I don't want to have to clean for corrosive ammo when I only plan on shooting a handful of rounds to get a combat zero on irons/optics. Will 123gr wolf/barnaul be very different from the 123gr surplus stuff for my purposes? I figure as long as the surplus stuff and the wolf/barnaul stuff is 123gr, then the velocity and POI should all be about the same, right?
I'm 90% sure the POI will be different because Yugo is hotter than commercial 7.62x39
+1, highly unlikely the POI's will be the same.
I actually did this comparison last weekend with a Romy WASR 10/63. I fired one 10 shot group of Wolf Black Box 122gr FMJ and one 10 shot group of Yugo M67 Igman produced in '80, the Yugo grouped a little tighter and about 3"+ higher at 100 yards. The POI difference between the Wolf and Yugo M67 on my Yugo 59/66 SKS was less pronounced though.
