anyone remember SAPSAN hunting ammo?
I use to get 1000round case for 38.00 dollars at fun shows and it seemed to be hot stuff. I know those prices are long gone! and so does the ammo even get made any more by them sapsan?
Who made it and what is comparible if anyone knows. thanks
Thanks for the correction on spelling and the info.
edited to correct my spelling.
Its "Sapsan" and it was just one of the "brands" made by Ulyanovsk. Have not seen this "brand" of Uly in about 5 years.

Green box HP with a chettah on the box IIRC. Got 800 rds in the basement. Was supposed to have been good stuff.
Green box with a hawk or falcon on the box. Sapsan is the Russian word for one of these birds IIRC. Nothing special, just run of the mill Ulyanovsk ammunition, which is GTG IMHO.

Here's an old box of the stuff I have laying around, I remember shooting the shit out of it...good ammo.

Some posts reported the Sapsan had the "improved" hollowpoint, making it more effective than the typical 7.62x39 cartridge, I can't personally verify this, but you may want to check that out before using it as regular range blasting fodder.
Pretty sure that's got the 8M3 bullet, meaning big fragmentation.
