Indoor range ammunition
Hi all today i went shooting at my local indoor range. I brought a few boxes of brown bear, and a few boxes of some brass ammo that ive forgotten the name of. The range stuck a magnet to the brown bear and said i couldnt use it because it had steel in it. What do you guys recommend to use for indoor range shooting. Im looking for 7.62x39.
Yugoslavian surplus has copper jacketed bullets as do any US made cartridges.
AFAIK almost all the Russian made commercial cartridges readily available now use bullets with steel jackets.
Ditto the above.
Cost wise, Yugo surplus is the least expensive option. US made is not cheap and then there is the odd FInnish surplus (SAKO and Lapua), PMC, Fiocci, "Cheetah" brand from Zimbabwe and Wolf in the half yellow box, but they are hit or miss on supply and cost...
Pretty much all other 7.62x39mm will have a bi-metal jacket.

thanks for the answers, i just bought some yugo from aim which is dirt cheap and non magnetic.

I think it's corrosive so keep that in mind after shooting it.
ya i saw it was corrosive, i just got back from shooting it and it shot nice. I used windex and water to clean it.

Make sure you hit the gas block, gas tube, piston/carrier and any other surfaces that were exposed to the residue as well.
