I am trying to put my wood hand guard back on, I have the crapco galil hand guard on there now and want to take it off but the tube will not come up and out, I can see that I have the latch lined up right but the tube will not budge at all???
Am I going to have to use a tool or something?
? Mine comes off easily.

Yea, my WASR 10's tube comes off easy too, the MAK 90.... will not budge, funny thing is it came off fine when the upper hand guard was attached to it.

I don't mean to offend, but it is sometimes forgotten... did you remove the piston?

DIng, we have a winner, I didnt take the rifle apart (Idiot) I just pulled the "cap" off the galil HG and tried to pull the tube out. No offense taken, sometimes you need someone to point out that you doing dumb stuff

Thanks Boomstick, I got it all off and as I was attempting to put the upper HG back onto the tube..... it split in half...so the Tapco is back on...then yesterday the weld on my slant brake broke.... I am having bad luck with this rifle, shoots great though

That sucks. Getting the uppers on and off of the tube can be difficult at best. The wood seems worse, and I can see how they'd split I've damaged a lot of wood trying to get the upper on/off. Do you need to have the brake welded on in WV? You could just look at that as a happy accident and as far as the law is concerned it "just broke with the last shot" is a phrase I'd memorize... or get it fixed.

No, I think it does not HAVE to be welded on, but it must have been imported that way, its a MAK 90, I think I could have it rethreaded and a US made break put on, but I don't need the barrel threaded so I am just going to get the break rewelded on because its cheaper
