Stuck gas lever
I'm new to AK's so I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong but the gas lever is stuck and wont go up. Any help??
I'm not new to AKs but I don't have the slightest idea what a "gas lever' is. Please explain.
Are you talking about the top handguard release lever under the rear sight? If it is tight, use pliers or the slot on your AK cleaning kit (the tube thingy in the butt stock) to move it up. Otherwise, I have no clue what you are talking about.
I jently tapped mine up with a hammer and the punch that came in my crappy surplus butstock cleaning kit. My problem is that once I get the lever into the open position, my gas tube will not lift out. It seems to be stuck. Anyone have any thoughts on that one?
And yes, the bolt is removed at this point.
That worked to get the lever to go up but now I'm having the same problem as you. The gas tube will not come out.
Yeah. I'm glad that I am not the only one.
Grip the rear (towards the receiver) of the gastube/upper handguard and pull it up at the same time working the level back and forth. It should be about straight up, some differer a little.
