No it's not painted .... this is a real Maganese Dark Parkerization ......

And the product form Brownells, it's very very very expensive ..... and, i don't like Zinc the deposit is thinner, it protects less than manganese

Please, help me ....

Brownell's also sell the manganese parkerizing chemical:

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24778/Product/PARKERIZING_SUPPLIES_ONLY

Midway also sells a manganese park solution:

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=350951

Lauer Black dip solution:

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=598254&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=free&utm_campaign=649

Direct from Lauer:

From Shooter Solutions:

There's plenty more, just do a simple Google search.

You do realize it's concentrated significantly, right?

A gallon of brownell's manganese concentrate will yield 8 gallons of parkerizing solution once diluted the proper amount.

if you're not willing to spend 60 bucks to parkerize, perhaps it's best if you just buy a spray-on finish and call it a day.

And you need to take another look at Shooter's Solutions web site and look at the DARK BLACK manganese park solution that gives a deep, dark black park finish.
