Which size boresnake and cleaning kit do I need for a 5.45 VEPR?

some people say to use a worn out .223 bore snake. i just use a new one on my 5.45's with no problem.

Problem is using a new one ruins the brush for 5.56mm use.
The brush becomes 'slugged' to the boresize.
