I had someone tell me that CLP contained PEET and that it was bad for parked firearms.

Never heard of it. Never had CLP cause any problems either.

Sounds like "gun store bullshit" to me, but if there's anything to it, I'm sure someone will be along shortly with an answer.

Either way, I've been using CLP for many years with no ill effects that I can see.

Perhaps they were referring to CLP with Teflon additives? If so, that wouldn't hurt park.

On the other hand, DEET, will melt many plastics.

Google search for PEET: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanda_Peet

I don't think PEET would hurt parkerizing. BSW

Problem meant "PTFE" which is Teflon.
It's good for guns.

I agree with Timb3 its just gunstore bullshit cause they wanna sell other shitty cleaners instead of CLP. CLP is used on all military weapons and guess what they are all parked so I am gonna call bullshit on this 1.

I'd wager that more than 50% of Arfcom uses Breakfree CLP regularly on their firearms. Presumably these firearms are AR-15s, which contain a number of parkerized surfaces.

Have you heard any reports of deleterious effects of Breakfree CLP on these weapons?

I don't own an AR, but I use CLP all the time on just about everything. It is an outstanding product. I've used it on parkerized, blued, browned, color case hardened, mannox'ed, tenifer'ed... you name it. The only thing CLP dissolves is rust and fouling. Use with confidence!

There is a reason all others try to be just like CLP.

heck, I even put it on my eggs in the morning.

Peet is the chemical that gives you the shits when you put CLP in your coffee.

Gun store BS. If this were a problem, the Army would have something to say about it...

Isn't DEET bug repellant?
