Just wondering how you guys like to lube your AK? Do you like wet lube, dry lube, or no lube? I prefer wet myself, but have ran AKs with no lube quite often without any problems.

I use as little as possible- it will work fine without lube up to a certain point- then I squirt a little in there.

I ran a FA krink 2 weekends ago dry- sprayed a little in there after 800+ rounds...still wasn't getting any malfunctions.

Lubriplate on the FCG, bolt and rail, gun oil on all the other moving parts.

I lube it just like all of my other firearms. Enough, without being sloppy about it. If it's a moving part, or contacts a moving part, it gets some lube.

Grease on bolt and receiver wear areas. If it's shiny it gets a thin coat of grease. BSW

I just hose it with Rem oil... the stuff Stays well... I started using some OTIS lube... it stays in place and is quite thin... I will porbably put it on the bolt and the rails the bolt carrier moves on next time I shoot one of my AK's... everything else just a even layer of Rem oil sprayed on.... keep the inside thinly wet at all times... good for corrosion protection and if I needed to... I could pick it up and unload at any given time...

On such a loose gun.. it's hard to over lube... your just wasting lube at that point tho

If it slides it gets Mobil 1 grease. If it revolves it gets Tri-Flow.

The spray can kind is way too thin. It drains out of where it's supposed to be pretty rapidly.

The stuff in the bottle is ok.

I use Mobil 1 on my AK. It's thick and goopy enough to stay put for long time.

Slide glide on moving/contact parts. Lucas gun oil on everything else made of metal.

I just use cheap white lithium grease I buy at Harbor Freight. I think it's like $1 for a huge ass tube. Use it on almost all of my guns.

The rails, bolt stem, hammer, carrier, and cam all get a little. The locking lugs get just a very light coating. Little oil on the FCG.

CLP for everything. A little here-n-there goes much farther than you think.

I even put it on my eggs in the morning.

You're supposed to lube an AK?

I thought dirt was AK lube.

I use a combination of Eds Red and white lithium grease. Clean with Eds Red and wipe down then a bit of grease on the bearing areas.

Toss in a handful of sand, shake it around a bit, shake out the excess, clear the barrel, and do 3 mag dumps, following this, shake out any residual sand, and you should be good to go. (believe this is how the arabs do it)

An AK needs lube???? I thought they ran forever and ran even better with dirt and sand in the action.

I use a light bit of CLP on the moving parts. An AK is pretty unforgiving in the lubrication department unlike an AR. Improper lubrication causes many problems with ARs.

When test firing a new build grease the hell out of it, seems to really help it break in. Then after that some grease to lube.

When my Vector AK was new I slathered everything in Tetra grease. Once it got broken in I have been trying a new dry lube from Liquid Wrench. I'm also using it in my blow-back guns ( Uzi, Sterling, 22s etc ) seems to be working out but I dont know if it really has any anti-rust properties but the dry lube IS keeping the crud from building up too bad.

+ 1 for the cheap white lithium grease on slide rails, bold and carrier. Just enough to lubricate without overdoing it. I agree that remington oil for an AK is worthless but it does have its place. I prefer it for surface protection after cleaning and to lube tight tolerance handguns. I have a .357 Python that will freeze up after sitting a while with many other oils but not the Rem. I guess I should just take her out and clear out the cobwebs more often

I like the wet lubes.

All of my firearms get the same lubricant which is Mobil 1 20W50 synthetic.

I have run my AK (SAM7R) in excess of 4500 rounds over a seven day period (a LE carbine training course) with only the initial lubricant present and the M1 was still there at the end of the course, doing its thing when I went to clean it at the end of the week.

I do clean mine every time I use it. I just wipe it down with CLP. That is all I use "BreakFree" CLP. I keep it lightly lubed and I have never had a problem.

Dirty oil that came out of your car has acids in it. By-product of combustion. (One of the best reasons to change your oil regularly).

Jeff

BTW, I use white lithium grease, as I get it for free at work.

Interesting to see only one proponent of SlideGlide, that stuff is magic. Not cheap magic, mind you.

I have recently been using Breakfree Lub/Protectant (not CLP) for lub. It has given me no problems. However, I am going to try out some very cheap lithium high temp grease from walmart and see how it works. I will report back.

Since I mostly fire mine underwater, I rarely use any lube at all.

I figure the water is enough to keep things moving smoothly.

Easy to remember.....

If it turns, oil it. If it slides, grease it...
