I never understood the reason behind that.

I have heard that the Romy 'G' was issued as a home gaurd weapon in semi-auto only. It was built with the 3rd hole, but not utilized. This explanation could be someone's wishful thinking.

No matter. We can't use them anyway. If you really want one, I'm sure you could find someone that will part with theirs. Most folks just toss them.

Not all firearms designs have all the parts in the ATF's parts list (this list is used for all firearms). The AK design only has three items in their fire control group (FCG): Trigger, hammer, and disconnect. For 922r purposes replacing these three gives you three items towards your US parts count.

I believe semi-auto disconnector differs from the auto variety. The auto disconnector has a longer tail which the selector/safety engages enabling the auto sear to trip (without the hammer being held by the disconnector). I have never found a disconnector in any of my kits (Romy or otherwise).

Like Ker-Pow stated, The Romy 'G' was issued as a home gaurd weapon in semi-auto only. The way I understand it was built with the tails cut off the disconnectors so the Patriotic Guards (AKA, territorial defense or national guard and civil defense ) wouldn't be more powerful than the regular army. The communist leader Nicolae Ceauşescu wanted to have the largest standing army in the world and this was one way of keeping the extra 700,000 citizens under his control.
That didn't work because in December 1989 from the 16th to 22nd the Romanian revolution brought an end to the Ceaușescu regime.

Most of the kits I have gotten have been the full auto FCG but yes you have to either mod the safety or the disconnector....I usually install the US FGC anyways..

The full auto and semi auto disconnectors are nearly identical (I'm not aware of any difference between the two). What you should be concerned about since most US FCG (fire control groups) come with a disconnector is the disconnector spring. I hope this helps at least some.

They are very different.

Full Auto disconnector

Full auto disconnecter has a long tail so the selector tab can hold down the disconnecter in full auto, it also has a offset so the rate retarder knuckel has room. It needs a divot in the trigger to fit under the pin hole in a semi trigger.
It can be used if the tail is cut in semi auto only.

Semi auto

Apart from the tail I mean, the functional dimensions (how they fit within the trigger) is the same. In a semi auto having the tail gives you no benefit (unless you want to have a hammer follow option).
