I'd like to remove the Front Site Base and Gas Block on two Bulgarian milled rifles, so I can swap them out for no-ban versions. Is there a fairly inexpensive tool out there that's made for this? If so, please point me inthe right direction. If not, please tell me what method(s) you guys are using to remove the pins. Thanks.....

I use two punches first one is cut down so it docent break while I get it to move and the second one to punch it out..

That's a good idea. Once they are out, how difficult was it to pull the GB and FSB off the barrel?

Like above, I use either punches or the hardened tip of a drive I can put in the press. They are very easy to remove if you have a press, just be sure to ream the holes a little before you do so (otherwise you run the chance of burrs damaging the barrel a little bit). The way I do it with the press is I use my barrel removal jig (any bars should do) and pinch the part I want to slide off the barrel (ie front sight). Then I press the muzzle end of the barrel (much like when pressing on a barrel) with some pennies between the ram and the muzzle.

I always start pins with a taper punch whether I'm using a press or a hammer. Once they look like they're going to move I switch to the regular pin punches.

Use a barrel pin ram and a 1/4 grade 8 bolt cut it to length then using a lathe turn it till it is 2.85.mm the use it to remove the pins.
This way you are not striking and causing a mar mark. install the same way just using a Flat 1/4 dowel pin.

For those of us who dont have access to a lathe, how much would you change to turn these down for us?

There was a guy on the AK files that made these, unfortunately he no longer makes them.
