Midway has a sale and I need a new cleaning rod. Trying to figure out which is better and why? Rumor has it the nylon coated can flake off over time, others say the carbon fiber is too flexible and can bend/break with a tight patch. Thoughts?

The only way you're going to break a Tipton rod is if you're pushing a patch. In other words improper use and abuse.

No other way to get a patch down the bore when using a jag.

I've got dewey rods with overs 16 seasons of use only nylon that is missing is near the tip due to wear and not flaking. I also use plain cres rods with zero signs of wear.
