Dewey. Bought them just before Tipton came out. Would like to try a Tipton. Some claim the coating on a Dewey will come off but I have not had a problem with mine.
Also, I think Dewey has more sizes. 50 cal etc.

A carbon fiber cleaning rod scares me, to be honest. I put a fair amount of force on my cleaning rods sometimes.

It would suck to have that carbon fiber break off and go through your hand. Maybe it is a non issue with tipton rods
but I have seen some scary brittle carbon fiber.

That said, I use dewey. I have three rifle rods and a pistol rod. I have one for my .177 airguns and it is a very small diameter.

I often wonder, when sitting around drinking and cleaning, about perhaps having to defend myself with a cleaning rod.

It would be like fencing. I might or might not practice with a cardboard box.

ETA: Keep them clean and your plastic coating will not soften and detach from the rod.

The cabon fiber doesn't bother me at all.I've been shooting carbon fiber arrows out of my bows for decades and can say they are tough, being shot through animals and targets, bounced off trees etc.I have broke a few but understandibly so. I haven't used Dewey rods but have heard the coating comes off and I don't want to get into that.I'm sure either one would be fine just wondering what was prefered.

I have been using the Tipton carbon fiber without any problem on my AR and my 22lr. I don't think the carbon fiber will break that easily this is the same material used on high performance cars which receive a lot more stress than a little push trough a barrel and for $30 it wont break you wallet either.

I have about a half dozen dewey rods in different diameters and lengths. I'd skip the tipton. If I was to try another one piece rod it'd be a bore tech. I am not sure I like the bore tech handle shape but their ball bearings rock. A few of my Dewey's don't roll well to that it's a big issue.

i have tipton carbon rods for my AR's and .308's. never had a problem. i have heard about people pulling the thread inserts out, but if they want to be idiots and change direction in the bore, thats what they get LOL. i only push anyway––––-i never pull the brush back through.

Tipton has been going strong for me for 5 years and the floating handle is a nice feature. I NEVER push a rod through the bore. Any rod can be damaged by improper cleaning and be a danger to the user as well as the rifle.
