I never had to, ~13000 psi minimum to cycle keeps things clear under normal circumstances. Just don't use foaming bore cleaner, that can cause big clogs that can't be blown out.

4 years of using FBC, with no gas tube clean outs no clogs to date.

generally, you do not clean a gas tube. if it ever becomes clogged, it is way more cost effective and easier to just replace it.

That 20,000+psi blast of searing hot gas pretty much takes care of scouring out anything that might be in there.

Now if you have a 22 lr conversion it is advised to shoot some 5.56 at the end of your 22 lr session or your gas port can become plugged with lead.

I admit if you go to the Brownells or Midway catralogs they have them but in all my encounters I've never had any reason to use them. All my AR's in my battery are always ready to go. I consider them useful to check ones tube in case of a malfunction.

If it's enough gas pressure and heat to erode the gas port you can bet it cleaned your gas tube.

Now if it's the outside, a little metal polish never hurt

+1 No foaming bore cleaner can clog a gas tube. I have used them all extensively and never once had a problem. The foam turns to a liquid and is gone after a day or 2. If any residue is left in the gas tube it will be burned off after the 1st shot.....no chance for it to build up if it was even possible.

I have about 900 rounds of nasty Wolf through my gun. Was cleaning the gun tonight, had a can of carb & choke cleaner handy. So I gave the gas tube a couple of squirts over a paper towel. Nothing came out.

i actually was asking myself the same question, i've seen advertised a normal pipe cleaner (craft/smoke) type in super long lengths and MI sells a special brush, i put a link below, which makes us newbies think its necessary..
