Hello guys,
I got my first AR15 a couple of weeks ago and I love it!

But I have an issue by cleaning the rifle.

How or with wich tools do you guys clean the room right in front of the chamber?
(I mean the inner place where the bolt locks.)

I have that bronce brush to loosen the dirt, but I have no idea how to get that stuff cleaned.
It is hard to get there with anything.

So how do you do that?

I usually start with this:

I then follow up with these things. One of them lasts a long time!

If I ever use up all the chamber stars in my life, I'll probably get one of these to try

q-tip and forceps or a patch and dental pick

I have bought the special gizmoes with the star shaped wad and it works well but the wads are silly expensive.

I normally just brush it out (with the standard m16 chamber brush christmass tree looking thing) with clp or solvent to get all the crud softened up and then go at it with Q tips
I just bend them so there is a kink in the end and fish them around.

This doesn't get 100% but I am happy with 95%

Realizing this is key. You can spend all day trying to get the rifle spotless. No need to go to such lengths. Scrub the chamber with a brush, swab out the bore, and if you have extra time you can cut the end off a q-tip, clamp it in a forceps, and wipe out the barrel extension.

Sinclair makes a tool that uses dental cotton swabs. Very effective and much cheaper than the chamber stars. I paid ~$20-25 IIRC 5-6 years ago for mine.

I use the chamber stars also. Previously I cut the end of a Q-Tip off and clamped it into a pair of forceps. The latter works well but takes slightly longer. As stated above, it doesn't have to be white-glove clean.

I use the chamber mop to lube the chamber after I clean. Before that I use compressed air to blast all the loose crud out of the chamber. Works very well.
