Bushmaster ORC not feeding
hey guys i have a prob. the gun will fire and eject but will not pick up a round out of the mag and chamber it. took gas system completely apart and cleaned. took bolt apart and completely cleaned and that leaves me with me scratching my head. the gun is completely stock except for it being cerakoted. i have a question about the buffer. should it rattle when you shake it out of the tube? don't know grasping at straws here any input would be helpful. thanks.
Did you read the FAQ and the "Read this before posting"?
Once you are done with your short stroke checklist, take a look at your magazines.
Yes, your buffer should rattle when you shake it.
yes im sorry i should have mentioned it. i tried three different types of mags, factory bushmaster, pmags, and some brand x metal one i got at a shop. and these three mags have beend used in this rifle before with no issues. also better mention using pmc ammo.

Depending upon which PMC ammo you are using, it is rather weak. Makes for good brass to reload as it was not trashed with 5.56 pressure. Did you perform the short stroke check list? I would also try other types of ammo.
took gas system completely apart and cleaned.
What specifically did you disassemble?

Yes, normal. There are several weights inside.
Collapsible carbine stock, or fixed rifle stock?
Does the action lock open on the last shot in the mag?
took the gas block off with the tube and cleaned. it is a adjustable stock not sure mil spec or not. i think i found the short stroke check list and the only thing i have not covered was checking the screws on the bolt for the gas port. i will try that tomorrow. but please keep the suggestions coming i am grateful. come to think of it the last time i shot it i don't think the bolt locked open on the last round.
You took the gas block off?!?!
This may be the problem, if it's not seated correctly when replaced or simply not tightened down so as to make an adequate seal on the barrel.
What kind of gas block is it, and are you using a handguard ring? Pics might be helpful.

Why did you take the gas block off? If it is misaligned and/or not fitting tightly, you will encounter short stroking.

the whole gun was taken apart and the upper and lower were cerakoted probably a little over a year ago. i have put hundreds of rounds through it since it was done. this is a new prob that just developed this winter. i checked the bolts on the bolt to make sure they were tight and they are. i took the gas block off to make sure of no obstructions and reinstalled. i have had the block off more than a couple of times and not had any probs the gas block is pinned on and not bolted. i was going to put up a video today of what its doing but between the weather and life i didn't get it done. i am thankfull for all suggestions made. i have also tried some remington military ammo along with pmc with no luck. as far as any of the internal parts they were not coated. i will try to get a video up in the next day or two the weather is suppose to turn in the next day or two. its like the bolt is no going far enough back to catch a round in the mag but far enough to eject the fired round. if that makes anys sense.
