DTI upper and Wolf ammo
I have a DTI 16" upper
This one., I bought it last April and it has always had issues feeding Wolf ammo. I've probably put around 2,000 rounds of non-Wolf ammo through it and have not had one single FTF, FTE, FTL, yet when I load in some Wolf, I'll get all of those in one 30-round magazine.
I know Wolf isn't the greatest ammo available, but it would be nice to be able to feed it consistently for practice. A buddy of mine used ammo from the same batch as me in his M&P 15 and didn't have any issues with it.
Now that I'm a year in on the AR platform, I'm a little more comfortable making tweaks or replacing parts as needed, but I'm not sure where to start with getting this thing hungry for Wolf.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you cleaned the chamber with a chamber brush and good solvent lately.
What kind of lube do you use and how much?

I have a habit of cleaning it thoroughly after every outing. Hasn't seemed to help at all. I use CLP and usually run the AR at a point where it's wet, but not "leaking", if that makes sense.
My DTI upper chews thru everything I feed it. Like you I'm fairly consistent about cleaning and scrubbing the bore/chamber. Maybe fill it up with you favorite solvent and let it soak over night. I've never really noticed much difference between Wolf or the Bears. As a matter of fact I've been shooting up the ton of Wolf MC I bought before Obama was elected. I recently bought some of that WPA MC but haven't tried it yet. Sorry for your problems. Hopefully a good chamber scrub will fix it but it sounds like you've already tried that.

Sounds like you got that part covered then, could be your gas port in the barrel is a hair on the small side causing your issue with the weaker ammo?
you said, "non wolf ammo" do you mean brassed cased 5.56, brass cased .223, or steel cased .223?
BTW, i have 2 DTI's and they had issues with the old style wolf, but i shot about 500 rds of 5.56 first and now it will eat the wolf and bears, but i still have issues with TULA. I stick to plinkin with wolf and shooting targets and sighting in with XM193.
I clean and lube with Weapons Shield

Sorry, should have been more specific, by "non Wolf ammo" I meant brass cased 5.56 and brass cased .223, haven't tried any other steel cased ammo.

I'd bet you're right.
I had this issue with a DTI upper, turns out it was an undersized gas port combined with low power wolf ammo causing a short stroke.
See what DTI can do for you, I wouldn't recommend you try fixing it yourself. DTI is a good company, this isn't an issue exclusive to them by any means.

I agree, this isn't something you want to mess with, let DTI check it out.

Give Laura a call she will help you out.
Thats Awsome they are helping you. When I bought my delton I got some wolf under the shops recommendation. It was my first rifle purchase. I read the manual and it said steel voids warranty so I gave the shop it's steel ammo back. Still haven't shot any, but I'm glad to see delton stepping up. Ps I love my little del-ton. Couldn't part with it for the world.

I don't mean to slam Del-Ton, (really, I don't), but any military style rifle that won't shoot steel case ammo is, in my opinion, to be avoided.
And any manufacturer that will void your warranty for using steel case ammo, should certainly be avoided.
Hell, even Bushmaster endorses the use of Wolf ammo on their website.
Again, this is all just my opinion.
But these are supposed to be military grade weapons, and reliability with various ammo plays a part in that designation.
I don't let it bother me. I'm sure they do it because they don't want a bunch of returns on guns that are dirty and not broken. The only reason I don't shoot steel is I can afford brass and understand the benefits.

that is no longer the case. Del-Ton's website has been changed to reflect the newest warranty terms:
Shooting any of the following ammunition will VOID any warranty with Del-Ton, Inc
Any reloaded ammunition

Aah....very good. As it should be.
And the prohibition of reloaded ammo is fully understandable.
Like I said, no disrespect to Del-Ton intended at all.
It's kind of funny seeing this thread today. I have the same upper as the original poster. I shoot tula and brass cased ammo out of it all the time. I must admit I shoot more then I clean it. I got a half a case of wolf for xmas. Yesterday i tried the wolf. On the second round the case gets stuck and the extractor rips a chunk out of rim. I guess it was time for a good cleaning.
Keep in mind that no standard lube or cleaning cleaning solvent is going to remove/dissolve poly fouling/build up. So on that note, you have to use a chamber brush by hand (with CLP for good measures) to remove such from the chamber.

Which we
should be doing as standard procedure.

Give Laura a call she will help you out.
I called and left a voicemail this morning, looking forward to working with your team!
I think it's crazy that all of you guys are having troubles with Wolf ammo.
I have two DTI 20" uppers and they have been flawless since the day I got them.
In fact, the only thing I've ever done to mine was I had to raise the front sight adjustment two clicks to dial it in on my A2 build.
Are you shooting 55 Grain? I just picked up a batch of the 62 GR HP stuff that AIM had for 19.5 cents/round and I shot it in my last competition, it was flawless.
Plinking a bit afterword revealed a slightly tighter group with the wife's scoped A4 build than we had achieved previously.
Either way, I have had great experiences with DTI and I cannot wait until another build comes down the pipe so that I can get something else from them.
Well I've been happy with the DTI, other than the Wolf issue. :Like I said, aside from the Wolf ammo (55 gr) it has been 100% flawless.
I did call and spoke with Laura, she set up an RMA and I shipped the upper out to them. Looking forward to testing it out once it comes back! They have been great to work with so far.
