 Charging handle getting stuck

Hey all, I'm having a problem with my new build. When you pull back the charging handle it wont go back all the the way its binding up. I tried to it worked fine the first time then got really hard and would not go all the way back. I pulled the BCG and the charging handle. I found the charging is now trashed an the finish is already completely worn of from the inside of the upper. I have no idea why this happened and hope the upper is ok. Here are some pics.

There is nothing wrong & Lube/oil that shit up.

Yeah the wear in the upper is normal, on top of the charging handle there is a raised portion on the end that rubs in the upper.

Not sure why it would be binding though, it will feel a little gritty, but with lube it shouldnt be an issue

Also, where is your gas tube?

Couldve just had some extra casting material that you just need work out. Personally, Id shoot it and not worry about it. I dont personally see anything wrong. Ive built 20+ ARs and virgin parts need mated and broken in to mesh.

Uppers, lowers, and charging handles are forged, not cast. There will not be "extra material" inside the upper since the entire inside of the upper is machined.

There may be some degree of wear that new parts undergo but noticeable binding is not normal. Quality parts built to specification do not need mating and breaking in to function properly.

Would help to know the stock on the rifle, since if a telescoping unit, may be the receiver extension end plate top a tad proud of the back/top of the receiver, and what the CH is hanging up on.

Are you using a rifle-length buffer spring in a carbine-length receiver extension or a rifle-length buffer in a carbine-length receiver extension?

None of me uppers show wear like that, one old BM A1 was a spot 3/4 long at the front, old Colt shows zero wear. If you can't pull the charging handle back you have a problem and should not fire it until you get it figured out. Try a different charging handle and BCG.

There are a couple of possibilities here, most likely something or multiple things are out of spec, something is bent, or possibly an assembly issue. What type (brand) of upper receiver, or where was it obtained from? Is the lower built using a collapsible stock? Where was the charging handle obtained from? Could you post a pic of the sides of the charging handle front end (specifically the two ears that stick out the sides, I am looking for rub marks and at the machining), and a pic of the left outside side of the upper receiver where the charging handle latch locks into the vertical machined relief cut on the receiver, Lastly has the charging handle been struck or banged on by anything when it got stuck?

I too have a problem with my charging handle. Unlike yours the charging handle in my Adams Arms Piston Upper get stuck and can not pull the charging handle to load the ammo.

Any suggestion to fix the problem? any help will be greatly appreciaated.

Problem turned out to be a Fubar charging handle. I replaced it with a Bushmaster one and everything works great now. The complete upper is DPMS as was the charging handle. Once I changed it out everything went right back to normal.
