My next AR10 is looking like either a 10T rifle or carbine.I have a Ar10 1913 carbine now. My goal is sniper precision at 200 yards which is the longest that I can shoot on Maui.I will be mounting my Bushnell Elite 4200 3x12x44mm,mil-mil,FFP 30mm scope on the new gun.My 1913 will be my skirmish gun. If 200 yards is the farthest you can shoot I would just get the 16" and save the extra size and weight

You can get just the stainless model, youll save a couple hundred, and about 1-2lbs, and have "sniper" grade accuracy at 200yds and beyond. The AR-10T would be slightly better, but if your not going past 600yds, I would say its unnecessary.

Plus that extra cash youd save can go towards a scope or ammo. Im just brainstorming here, but I would think being in Maui, you could setup buoys off the shore and shoot out to sea. Or would the EPA throw a fit over that? I have never been to Hawaii, so Im just guessing what would be available.

I have a AR-10T w/ Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42. The gun is far better than I am. It should suffice for your needs.

I bought a 10T with the stainless barrel and wasn't happy at allwith the out of the box accuracy. It straight up sucked! I sent it back to Armalite and the changed the barrel out for free and shipped it back. I never even put a round through the new barrel; I sent it to Accuracy Systems and had them make me a barrel and upgrade the rifle.... Its a tack driver at well over 600, the rifle now shoots well beyond my abilities.

Just my 2 cents

Dont you have to break it in before you judge the accuracy? Still got the 10T barrel?

I do have the new barrel that Armalite replaced. I believe it is a Walther-lokar ( or something to that effect) sitting in the safe. Never had a round through it. The original barrel from Armalite was broken in with bore polish and copper solvent as instructed. The barrel from Accuracy Systems was broken in properly as well, but what a difference between the 2!!!

There should be a significant difference with that kind of price.

For all the work I got done to the rifle, the barrel to be made and the brake, it was a lot less than I expected! If I had known about them before I purchased the 10t i would have gone directly to them and saved the time and effort. Not saying anything bad on the Armalite 10T! It is still a phenominal weapon! I just got a lemon and had a bad time with it initially. It happens, and I would still buy another factory Armalite in a heartbeat!

I don't think my barrel is as heavy under the hand guard as the "T"

A couple of 100 yd. groups.

Nice groups Scaup58! What kind of bolt release and muzzle brake are you running?

Brake is the AWB era Armalite circa 2004. Very effective at clearing the benches! It reduces recoil nicely but really produces a concussion to anyone not directly behind the rifle. Bolt release is my own manufacture inspired by this: http://www.phase5tactical.com/products/308-dpms-type/extended-bolt-release-v2308-ebrv2308. I just fabed it and welded it to the stock release then blasted and Cerakoted it. The phase 5 is a little more elegant but mine functions extremely well.

This pic is of it with Krylon on it, before Cerakote. The Cerakote matches the anodizing perfectly.
