That's really cool!!!!!!!
I would LOVE to have one of them! Nice pics.
Thanks to Tongo and my good friend Timkel for the great pics.
Great pics. Thanks a lot.
There are some pics of the new AR10 in the sandbox doing its dirty work. I bet if you ask real nice the armalite moderator might post them.

So some asshole who knows nothing can call BS on the photos like what happened last time?

Yeah, it was great reading what those assholes were posting. I can see someone being skeptical, but i met the guys and talked to them about their AR10's and how they used them and where. They had some real neat info.
A small number of AR10's were sold to Italy.
Pic is an Italian Marine Location unknown.

Great pics, I would love to have an AR-10.
What is the item I have circled in red?
Anybody know?

tag, great pics
Portuguese soldier with AR10 (front row on left).

another great pic from Tongo. He's getting ones we've never seen before.
Thanks again.
+1

Wow. Neat pics. We'll try to save them.
We've got 10 in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Columbia, Indonesia, and other odd places with both US and other forces. The company has dispatched trainers to Asia and Africa. Problem is that we have few pictures. Most of the users are pretty publicity shy, but we can get a new one or two up. We don't remember what was posted previously. Some pics from Afghanistan it seems. We received both training and oprational photos. The look much the same. So much of sniper operations are settling in waiting for the right moment. Bad for the back.
ArmaLite has a policy of saying less than it could. That doesn't stop some idiot from posting nonsense when we do. It really irritates the guys who send the pics back. They take a bit of extra effort to send news back home and some closet commando critiques them. Sheesh.
According to Maj Pikula's book, that is an Energa rifle grenade. I am not familiar with them. I will look it up in Jane's later.
The pic is credited to Peter Wilke, BTW.
Last ones!

Looking at the latest pics supplied by Tongo with the soldier walking with the rifle
propelled grenade attached I would say the items you circled are canistered
grenades but thats just a guess
THANKS Tongo for the outstanding pics!!!!

Every now and then one shows up on Gunbroker...
Edited to add: Lo and behold...

Sweet! Thanks for posting the photos.
This one on Gunbroker has an H&H USA mfg receiver. This lower will fit either Sudanese or Portugese contract upper receivers, which could be handy if somebody happens to own both types of uppers. The bad point is that it requires using an offset screw pin in the front like Colt Sporters used for years.I hate those pins and prefer push pins like the original AR-10 and M-16 uses.
The H&H lower is also very blocky looking compared to original lowers and some of the other domestic mfgs.
Currently there are at least 3 more Portugese contract AR-10s for sale on the net that I have seen.
I bought one myself 2 days ago. It uses Sendra AR-10 lower ser # 0000X.
I may post pics later this week.
HTH,
Mike
This is a promotional picture.

I always wondered what that mounting boss was on the front of the front sight, a grenade launching sight, very cool. Sure would be cool to have an inert grenade, case and launching sight. Those bipod legs are also unlike most I have seen with the m60 style strengthening ribs. Did you snag that pic out of Sam's book? Seems to me I remember seeing it somewhere, maybe the video?
Thanks!

Actually I got it here. Its an AR10 website in the Netherlands.

But the pic is also in Sam Pikula's book.
The Tokoi book has excellent pics of those bipods.

Dan,
The still picture is definately from the ArmaLite AR-10 movie produced by Fairchild Aviation Inc. I have the VHS version of it, thanks to Mr. Westrom. It came with my AR-10B and it was a pleasant surprise to find it when I opened the carton. It runs a little over 15 minutes and it's great.
1950s style dramatic documentary music(read hokey) and narrative style.
Hmmmm maybe I'll watch it again tonight!
Mike
Here is a site that has some pretty good pics.

I just found and purchased a copy of Pikula's book

Can't wait to read it!
Tokoi's books are a bitch to find.
I wasn't sure the other day, but this one appears to be missing the ejection port cover, pin, and spring. Good luck finding replacements!
There's another one for sale currently that has a home made cover. It looks like shit.

Congratulations! Great book and hard to find!
Great pics!
Were they from a book? Title?
2nd picture down in Timkel's post:
Did anybody notice this Portuguese para has a Sudanese contract AR-10? Look at the hand guards, barrel and the front sight base.
Very interesting!

Nope, check your email

Cool thread.

Are you sure these are not a bunch of French guys?
