AR-180 weaver scope mount: B-Square or S&K?
Ok you few, proud 180 owners. Which is a better setup for a weaver scope mount base: B-Square or S&K?
The B-Square mount is more expensive but I know S&K mounts are used on alot of high dollar rifles- or is that just my imagination?
Which is better?
if no one comes along with the answer, check with LARRYG.
I know Larry has the B-square mounts and speaks highly of them.
Never heard of S&K.
I tried the S&Ks and sent them back. You mount them with a set screw and then put the scope in the mount, no QD. If you plan on putting the scope on and leaving it, then S&K is fine, but I like to interchange between a red dot and an optical scope. The S&Ks also leave a mark where the set screw digs in. They are not junk, don't get me wrong, they are high quality, but the mounting method turned me off.
The B-Squares are pricey, but worth it, IMHO. Go to www.b-square.com, get their number, call them, and find a dealer in your area. I have always gotten them for about $40 less from a dealer, as opposed to the $152.00 on their website. I spoke with their product manager about a year ago about the huge increase in price and he didn't seem to give a shit that they would be selling more because of the 180B.
They are, however, the best 180 mount out there and the mount works on the originals as well as the 180B. It does have the plunger like the originals and is QD as a result.
Thanks LarryG- that is just what I wanted to know! You da man!
