Has anyone built a 14.5" middy dissipator
I am getting the itch for another upper, and I have been thinking that a 14.5 middy would be just the ticket.
The problem is that I have not seen anyone do a dissipator build with that barrel length and gas system.
Has anyone seen this build, or is there even enough room to put an A1/A2 front sight post on there and a pinned/welded FH?
Inquiring minds want to know, I'm thinking of moving on this soon if it is indeed possible.
Not possible, barrel is too short.
You can do 15.5" or so.
Carbine gas system length is optimized for a 14.5" barrel. Midlength gassed 14.5" only exist because someone made one. Midlength is, however, much better than carbine on a 16" barrel gun. If you want a 14.5" barrel with long handguard, get a 12 or 13" FF rail.
Disregard the dissipator concept and just put a rifle length free float handguard on there. That one is no problem to put together and handles very well.

Fail.
I guess the reason I was asking is because I wanted to make a super-shorty M16A1.
Does anyone make shortened A1 Triangle Handguards?

Those aren't midlength.
You can use 12" standard handguards if you chop the front sight in half. Like the DOE 9mm Colts.
Not sure if that's something you would be interested in. If you google image 14.5" dissipator their is a pic of one from msgunowners.
