AR build I'm contemplating
I put together a parts list for an AR build I'm contemplating:
AR15.com Complete Lower(the .com stuff does not bother me)
AR15.com Stripped Upper
BattleComp 1.5
BCM 14.5" BFH Mid Length Barrel 5.56mm(BattleComp 1.5 pinned on, the downsides to this do not bother me)
BCM BCG
BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 Charging Handle
Brownells- Barrel Nut, Ejection Port Cover, Forward Assist
HSP Dropwing Light Mount
Larue Low Profile Gas Block
Magpul MS3 Sling
Magpul RSA
Surefire M300A
Troy Alpha 13" Rail
Troy Front & Rear Battle Sights
The .com markings do not bother me on the lower/upper I just personally like the looks of it(everything being more squared off then rounded) and controls being ambi. Does anyone have any experience with AR15.com uppers/lowers? Are they gtg for a HD/CHTF AR? How about the trigger, its a Geissele Super 3 gun. I plan on this being a HD/CHTF AR, will that trigger be suitable or should I buy the stripped lower and put a two stage trigger in it?
My only other issue is debating between DI vs Piston. I know the differences and cons/pros of each. My current AR is a piston and I have had no issues with it and love how easy it is to clean. My delimma is I want to use the Troy Alpha rail and through my research I've yet to find a piston system to fit under it. Anybody got any piston kit to work under the Alpha rail? I would rather not use an excessivly bulky railed handgaurd so currently I'm leaning towards how it is listed above and going DI.
The only thing I think is missing from the list is the optic. I plan on putting a 1-4/1-6 scope on it, but that will be later on down the road after it is complete. A red dot may go on it at first until I decide on a scope.
This will be my first time building my own AR and while I don't want to spend any more money then I need to I don't mind spending money on quality parts b/c I want this to be my go to AR. If I'm missing anything let me know. Thanks!
One thought would be to get a Daniel Defense version of that barrel configuration instead of the BCM. From consistent feedback on the board here and elsewhere it appears that BCM is using a smaller size gas port, so their 14.5 mid doesn't necessarily work reliably with anything other than 5.56 military type ammo.

Good point, thanks. I was a little overwhelmed when deciding on barrel so I just went with BCM since I was ordering other items from them. The DD will probably be a better route anyways since I'll most likely have ADCO pin the BattleComp on and he sales DD barrels.
After some more researching I think I'm gonna go with the DD lightwieght CHF mid length barrel. Since I was going to have ADCO pin on the battlecomp 1.5 and he sells both on his webiste, it makes mroe sense just to order from him and save the money shipping it to him.
Also still looking for some feedback on using the ARFCOM upper/lower receivers as a "go-to-gun"/HD rifle. And thoughts on the S3G trigger in that same role.
I understand the scope for SHTF, but not for HD, unless you also have a pistol on your hip. If the intruder is in your home, do you want a scoped AR to defend yourself?
