Make your own free float tube

I was thinking of making my own free float tube out of a tube of material that is smooth on the inside. I have the barrel nut and washer but I was curious if there was a threaded ring I could install on the smooth surface of the tube to attach it to the barrel nut. Has anyone done this before, and if so what parts would one need. Thanks in advance

Thanks, but I was looking to make my own carbon fiber handguard. I have a free float barrel nut and was thinking I could find a mating part that I could mount inside the tube to allow it to screw on. Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

I think you can buy a barrel nut from one of the companies that make carbon fiber tubes. As for making one you'd have to have a lathe. IMHO you should just buy one it's will be easier in the end!

ETA: this might help Clicky

Any local machine shop should be able to cut one for you.

Or you could buy a model 1 sales free float tube from midway for $35 and cut it up for the parts you need.
