Does anyone know how to remove the pistol grip from an M&P15? The head of the bolt holding it on is round without slots or anything to use a screwdriver or wrench on... The only solution I can think of is, well, I can't think of anything Anybody have any experience with this?

How did they get it on if it has nothing for a wrench or screwdriver to grab? Oh well, cut it off.

I have a LPK that had the pistol grip bolt to be hex instead of slotted. Get a flashlight in there.

It's not slotted or a hex headed bolt. It does have an uneven hole (not perfectly round) in the head of it that could have been a hex but got filled in after it got installed or something. I have no idea how they would have installed it other than they definitely have superior tools than me Can anyone think of a way to cut a slot into it? I'm at a loss here...

I'll take a picture of it and get it on here Sunday or Monday (away from home for the weekend). Maybe then you'll see what I mean and can get ideas.

There's a tool for the screw. You just haven't properly identified the hex/flat/phillips/torx yet. If there ISN'T a tool for the screw, cut the grip off with a saw, taking care to avoid your lower receiver. It's just a plastic A2 5$ grip, right?

How does that help him?

The only manuals that even address the diassembly of the pistol grip from the lower are the military ones.

The mil-spec grip screw is a slotted one, something the OP has already stated it is not.

The bolt is a hex socket cap bolt. I'm not sure what the size is, but it's a standard hex size. The problem with this bolt is the length of the allen wrench you need to get to it inside the grip. I took a regular allen wrench and bent it straight - this gave me enough to reach the bolt. It has a star lock washer on it to hold it in place, and at least on my M&P15R, it was not very tight. Don't forget about the selector lever spring - you don't want to have to chase it as it flies across the room!

I was taking a picture to post here, and when I zoomed in on the picture I could see that it is a hex head. When I looked at it again with my bare eyes, I still couldn't see that it was hex head. Anyhow, at least I know how to get it off now. Thanks for the help everyone.
