 Real DuraCoat colors

I'm fed up with the coloring depicted on some of the websites: sometimes it's on the metal, sometimes it's on the stock and forearm. When it comes to the grays and blacks (the range I'm interested in) I can't tell the difference.

Since there are so many great photographers here, hopefully those who have used Matte Black, Parker, Colt Gray, Combat Black, SOCOM, Black Oxide, or Diamond Plate Deep Gray could post some examples. I would greatly appreciate it. Or if someone could post ALL of the colors, this could become a permanent thread and everyone would appreciate it.

Well this may or may not help. If you look in the EE under rifle and shootgun Accsoires. You will find Hought ent. Add for Duracoat. That were I get my supplys from. If you check there web page. You will find the complete list of colors. Problem with color photos on a computer is they may not look the same say in daylight, or low light or with a flash. Good luck. I persoanly have used Colt Gray And Coyote Brown. And the colors match Is very Good. To what they show. The Coyote came out more of a semi gloss. But you can get a matt clear spray from them. Hope it helps.

if all you need is grays and blacks, get white and black and mix the color you want. get some cheap acrylic paint to practice mixing colors if you have never painted before.

Maybe we should get a thread going on duracoat colors and Norrels colors. It would have to be in the refinishing section though. I have thought about this for a while. I have pics of Duracoat Black Oxide, Matte Black and Colt Grey. I also have Tigerstripe Brown, Desert Beige, Coyote, Woodland Tan, Underbrush, and OD green. As for Norrels I have Coyote, Black, OD green, and Dark Earth Brown. It would be a big thread and would have be well organized but it could be done. Stickman has some awesome pics. We would need 2-3 of each color in different lights to be able to tell the real color of it. One on a white sheet, one outside, and one somewhere else. Hmmm.....have to go get the camera.

Matte black is more like the finish on a m16 buttstock
Combat black is more like the finish on a post ban arsenal ak
Semi gloss black reminds me of the finish on a double star m4
Gloss black is, well, glossy

This is duracoat black oxide. The finish is not as smooth because I had air issues. Normally it comes out smooth but not as smooth as Norrels.

+ 1,000,000!!!
It sounds like you're ready to go! The pic you posted looks good. More would be great. I'm a novice, but I would think that outdoor pics would provide the best accuracy in terms of color. If we could get some of the amature photographers like Stickman to pitch in, I think we'd have a hit. Sounds like you have a good collection of pics going already, so more, more, more!

Here is Woodland Tan

This is some pics of Tiger Stripe Brown. In this pic the lower is TS brown and the mag is Duracoat Coyote.

This is also Tiger Stripe brown. As you can tell it looks different depending where you take the pic.

I am no stickman but these will give you a idea.

Try the refinishing section for pictures and colors of the various refinishing products.

It makes it a little easier for those people who are looking for the same info next month, as well as showing the info already posted.
