So I ordered a Thru Nite drop in for my SF G2 Nitrolon. I know that that using it for extended periods of time is a no go........but, what about for a weapon light? Meaning, will it be ok if it is just used for short burts like you would for operation on a rifle? It's rated at 493 Lumens. Not sure what the actual output measures.

No input from any of the light gurus around here?

Brief bursts shouldn't be a problem, but that polymer bezel is a damn good insulator which can kill high power LEDs if they get too hot from a long run time. You could also look into buying a 6P bezel then you wouldn't have to worry about it. just be mindful of how long you run it and turn it off if the LED starts to turn an angry blue.

Thanks. I got the drop in today, and it works nicely. I am looking for a Z44 head, and also a difuser. I definetly wont be using it for any long illumination. Got plenty of other lights for that
