Hello all,
I am about to purchase a vikers padded sling. I am so confused as to what type of configuration I should go with in regard to attaching it to my rifle. I am not to familiar with the quick disconnect swivels or if I should go without the QD swivels and go the traditional sling attachment route. It seems that many of the tactical newer slings go with the QD swivels, I just don't know how rugged they are. Would they hold up if this was put through serious use. It seems that perhaps going with the traditional sling attachment route would allow for more possibilities with standard slings.

Again I have completely no idea when it comes to the QD swivels vs traditional attachment routes so please inform me.

Thank you

Are QD capabilities even necessary. I am starting to lean toward the traditional non-QD route.

i bought the Vickers padded sling and love it , very well built and easy to adjust instantly . for the side fore grip mount i used the Daniel Defense with the push pin swivels , they are very sturdy and feel very secure . post a pic of your rife will help too on how to mount so many different options .

I have a padded vtac sling with qd swivels and a two to one triglide. I use it one 3 different guns and it adjust quickly. If I was going to use one sling on one rifle I would just strap it to the fsb and the stock and be done with it.

They are an absolute necessity if you're going to be anywhere near or around a vehicle, IMHO.

If you ever need to "bail" you don't want to be caught up in your sling.

Otherwise, they're not a necessity, IMHO.

I prefer the QD swivels, makes take-down when cleaning a breeze, as well as the advantages others have mentioned. They are plenty durable as long as you buy a quality mount and swivel. Gear Sector are my favorites:
