Looking for a good belt for CCW....
I am looking for a good belt for concealed carry. I was thinking about going with a crossbreed belt, but wanted to know what others were using before spending the money. Thanks for your time.
Ares Gear ranger belt.
I owned a crossbreed for about a year and a half and it didn't hold up that well, I then switched to an Ares and havent looked back - I've been using it for about a year now.
Comptac kydex reinforced belt.
I have one of the CompTec belts...it's great!
I've had a crossbreed for a couple years and haven't had any problems with it.
I wear an Uncle Mike's Reinforced Instructors belt. I have been using it for about a year and a half. The only issue is the velcro doesn't stick anymore, but it still holds tight and works just fine. It's ugly, but I carry an XD40 service model in a supertuck holster all day without any issues.
Buy one of these before they sell out. Once they're gone, they won't be making them anymore.

Yes, because they're a knockoff of Ares - which is why Kyle has decided to discontinue making them.
From what I'm tracking from Jake, Kyle had no idea they were so close to the Ares belt. When he was told/shown, he agreed to do the right thing and stop making them. I have zero questions on the ethics of either man. They're both honest men.
I have an Ares belt.

That's exactly what Jake told me as well. Kudos to Kyle for being as professional as he was about it when he found out.

Big +1 for the Ares belt. At least Kyle is doing the right thing. Good on him. Although I've seen him do questionable things before...
Such as?
problem:
Ares belt - more expensive and 4+ week wait, they even state not to bother asking for ship times.
So their competitor, who can actually supply product that they cant is going to stop selling them? Seems kinda shitty to me.
Welcome to the shrinking world of ethics. It's a crying shame you don't see much of it any more.
Recently got a Beltman belt. It's good and solid. Stiff as hell.
I asked this question a long time ago.
Everyone told me to get one from BELTMAN.
I didn't listen, got a milt sparks.
Wore it for several years daily, started to wear out.
Asked the same question again. BELTMAN was the response.
I finally ordered a Beltman.... very happy!!

FWIW, my Fiancee's beltman belt was junk. The belt started peeling on the outermost layer and the finish coming off after only a couple months of non-frequent wear.

I'm not questioning the functionality or quality of the Ares (or the Viking) belt, but if CCW really means "concealed", I don't get it. That thing screams "I have a gun". Now some people carry concealed because the law says they can't strap on a 6 shooter cowboy rig and they don't mind if it's obvious they're carrying. And there are merits to that argument. But if you're really trying to be discreet, you'd be better off getting something that just looks like a leather belt.

Screams "I have a gun" to whom, exactly? Maybe someone in the know, but I've never had a single person question it. I think you're giving the general public more credit than is due. I saw a guy open carrying in Starbucks on Tuesday and I noticed one person in the entire place look at his gun. Not to mention, those of us who don't tuck our shirts in as you'd never know what sort of belt I was wearing anyway.

And I'm wearing one right now that I've used heavily for years and it still looks almost new. I have three of his belts (along with a couple of Loopers) and those are the only belts I own/wear, dress or casual.
Did your fiancee contact Beltman about it for a replacement or refund? Just curious. I've never had a problem or need to, but I've always read/heard that he stands behind his products.

From what she told me, she did and received a snide response from the person that she spoke with and decided not to pursue it any further. I'll ask her tonight if there was any communication other that that.

Well obviously if nobody can see it it's not screaming anything to anybody, but then neither would an OWB holster. 2-tone mil webbing & cobra buckles stand out more than a leather belt when a shirt is tucked in. I'm sure it does its job very well, and it is entirely possible that I'm giving the general public more credit than is due.
I've been wearing a Beltman belt daily for the last 6 years. It is still holding up great.
I did not get the kydex lined model and it's still nice and stiff and holds the holsters well.
I did get the velcro lining and use "v-clips" on my MTAC holsters.
I have several but the Wilderness belt is on my tactical type pants and a Don Hume double leather is my every day wear. I have two of them. brown, black.

I have used the crossbreed belt for 3 years now. It works great.
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Viking Tactics Varr Belt
1 1/2 belt. It is a belt.
I've heard of people using "TheWilderness" belts for CCW, I have one and love it. But just use it to hold my pants up, not for CCW (obviously, look where I'm from

)

Straight shady...but the student got a VTAC sling to replace it. But seriously???
Ouch

+2. I've got the traveler's 3 stitch belt right now which is more than stiff enough. Going to get the instructors since I ordered a size slightly too small.

Or you could just leave the t-shirt un-tucked and no one will be the wiser....

I've had one for 4 years, pretty much wear it every day. Also have a local custom leather shop that made me a few that I also swap into the mix when I'm "dressing" up a bit.
I wear the Wilderness Instructor belt almost every day. I wear shirts that are meant to be worn untucked so my belt and gun are covered. Even if I'm wearing business casual, I wear that belt. You can't see it and it's one of the most comfortable belts I've ever worn. If I have to wear a suit, then I use a 5.11 dress belt. Very affordable, they look nice and they are plenty stiff enough to secure your weapon.
